Storytellers
Based on the concept of storytelling, the latest Verbier Festival Gold release offers two delightful French works. First, Poulenc’s L’Histoire de Babar (inspired by Jean de Brunhoff’s famous tale of “Babar the little elephant”) is performed by pianist Roger Vignoles and narrator Peter Ustinov. Second, world-renowned soprano Barbara Hendricks is joined by Carmina Quartet for a stunning rendition of Fauré’s song cycle La Bonne Chanson, based on poems by Paul Verlaine.
