Yuja Wang: The Verbier Festival Debut Recital
On a beautiful morning in July of 2008, pianist Yuja Wang, then a twenty-one-year-old Wunderkind, took to the stage for her debut recital at the Verbier Festival. What followed was an event of mind-boggling virtuosity and immeasurable sensitivity. All in attendance were certain that they had witnessed a milestone moment within the early career of a legendary musician. Since then, a global public has been equally astounded. Nearly nine million people have watched her dazzling account of Rimsky-Korsakov’s ‘Flight of the Bumble-Bee’ via YouTube.
