“I have just learned about the passing of Michael Tilson Thomas. Michael and his husband Joshua were old friends of mine and our relationship was based on mutual respect and creative planning.
Michael was a very well-loved and generous conductor of both the Verbier Festival Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra. He loved working with young musicians and had himself created the very best educational platform for young orchestra musicians, the New World Symphony in Miami. I had great admiration for his creativity and vision and our musical brainstorming moments were always highlights for me.
I will miss both Michael and Joshua’s friendship and presence. Rest in Peace dear Michael, dear Joshua.”
