Michèle Fulpuis

Mireille Fulpius is a Swiss visual artist, born on February 2, 1951, in Geneva. A graduate of the Geneva School of Fine Arts, she began her artistic career working with metal for about ten years before reorienting her practice upon moving into an old industrial building.

During the 1990s, she rediscovered wood, which became her preferred material and marked a major turning point in her artistic practice. In 1990, she settled in Seyssel, on the banks of the Rhône, in a former industrial site.

From the late 1990s, her work shifted towards landscape pieces designed on a site-specific scale. In the early 2000s, she collaborated with Sylvie Bourcy on large-scale, in situ creations.

Today, Mireille Fulpius creates monumental and unique outdoor structures that she describes as “energy reservoirs,” in constant dialogue with the natural energies of the environment. Her work is characterized by a fascination for the richness and diversity of materials.
