Chengzhan Wu

Chengzhan Wu began studying the violin at the age of five and started his professional musical training in 2016 with Mingen Zhou. In 2019, he was admitted to the Music Middle School Affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. On the advice of his teacher, he later switched his principal instrument to the viola and began studying with Li Sheng, developing a strong interest in the instrument and its repertoire. In August 2023, Chengzhan was awarded Second Prize and received the José Ramón Hevia Special Award for Best Interpretation of Spanish Music at the 24th Villa de Llanes International Viola Competition. In November 2023, he gave a viola recital at the Shanghai Concert Hall. He is currently studying viola at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with Li Sheng and is active in chamber music and orchestral performance.
