PRESS RELEASE
March 20, 2026 – Vevey (Switzerland) — The Verbier Festival unveils a new album on its VF Gold label, in collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon, revealing a gem from the archives of the 2018 edition: Christoph Eschenbach conducting Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, alongside renowned soprano Ying Fang and the Verbier Festival Orchestra.
Mahler’s Fourth Symphony evokes a childlike vision of paradise, a world where innocence replaces gravity. A great contemplator of nature, Mahler believed that every work should contain a fragment of the infinite; this is expressed here in a more concise form, performed by a reduced orchestra and imbued with an almost candid spirit. Under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach, the Verbier Festival Orchestra leads us to Das himmlische Leben, the symphony’s final movement and culmination, where Ying Fang’s crystalline voice seems to elevate us to celestial spheres.
Christoph Eschenbach conducts Mahler 4 will be available from March 20, 2026, on Apple Music Classical and all streaming platforms.
