It’s the first time at the Verbier Festival for the American mezzo-soprano, who will perform on 17 July under the baton of Esa-Pekka Salonen. She will sing the final scene of Wagner’s Götterdämmerung, where all aesthetics meet: orchestral grandeur, operatic lyricism and the dawn of impressionism. This is a repertoire she knows well, having distinguished herself in iconic roles such as Fricka, Sieglinde and Waltraute (The Ring Cycle).
BOOK YOUR TICKETSJohanna Wallroth
Sat. 18.07 | Tue. 21.07
After making a striking debut as Zerlina in Don Giovanni with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Johanna Wallroth has made Mozart her signature repertoire. The soprano continues to build an exemplary career, acclaimed for her appearances, notably at Schönbrunn Palace with the Wiener Staatsoper, as well as for touring with Daniel Harding. The Verbier Festival will welcome Johanna Wallroth for the first time on 18 July as Fiordiligi, under the baton of Gábor Takács-Nagy. Johanna Wallroth will also perform at the Église of Verbier on 21 July in a programme dedicated to Romantic repertoire.
BOOK YOUR TICKETSRebecka Wallroth
Sat. 18.07 | Tue. 21.07
Rebecka Wallroth returns this summer to perform with Gábor Takács-Nagy and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra (VFCO), following her brilliant portrayal of Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro) in 2024 with Peter Mattei. On 18 July, the mezzo-soprano takes on the role of Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, performing alongside a five-star cast, including her sister, both in this opera and in real life. She will reunite on 21 July with these exceptional singers for a programme of Lieder, featuring pieces by Brahms and Schumann.

Sat. July 18 | Tue. 21.07
Named “Emerging Opera Singer of the Year” by Opernwelt magazine in 2019, the soprano has built a career featuring notable Mozart roles, the repertoire in which she made her international debut. Anna El-Khashem has since won the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, receiving a special prize. After portraying Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Verbier Festival in 2022, she returns on 18 July to perform under the baton of Gábor Takács-Nagy, in the final opera of the Da Ponte trilogy.
BOOK YOUR TICKETSBryn Terfel
Sat. July 18 | Thu. 23.07
Celebrated for his intense stage presence and rich voice, Bryn Terfel is an artist who needs no introduction, equally at ease in operatic repertoire and musical theatre. Ten years after his legendary Falstaff in Verbier, the bass-baritone returns this summer to pieces close to his heart. He made his operatic debut as Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) with the Welsh National Opera, and on 18 July he returns this time as Alfonso under the baton of Gábor Takács-Nagy with the VFCO. On 23 July, Bryn Terfel will perform excerpts from Bock and Harnick’s Fiddler on the Roof, including the iconic “If I Were a Rich Man.” Balancing nostalgia and humour, these pieces evoke the richness of tradition and the strength of Jewish-American culture in the immediate post-war period. Don’t miss this extraordinary evening, which will also feature Joshua Bell in De Hartmann’s Violin Concerto and Daniel Harding conducting Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2.

Nominated for the Victoires de la Musique Classique in 2020, the young singer returns on 21 July for a very special evening marking the 10th anniversary of the Yves Paternot Prize, which she won in 2017. On 22 July, at the Cinema as part of the UNLTD programme, Adèle Charvet pays tribute to Joséphine Baker and the year 1926, when Baker conquered Paris at the Théâtre des Folies Bergère.
