Dear Audience,
This week, we’re spotlighting five of your favourite concerts from the 2026 edition. From Mozart and Mahler to Carl Orff, unforgettable evenings await in Verbier.
We look forward to welcoming you this summer!
Mao Fujita, Gábor Takács-Nagy & VFCO
Tue, July 21 | 6:30 PM | Combins
A Slavonic-inspired programme under the Hungarian conductor Gábor Takács-Nagy, featuring Dvořák’s New World Symphony. A very different energy drives Kodály’s Dances of Galánta: inspired by Romani music, it recalls how deeply the musical traditions of Eastern Europe were shaped by exchanges with the East—heard here in the languorous clarinet solo and its sensuous pentatonic scales. Finally, the delightful variations on “Ah! vous dirai‑je, Maman”, already celebrated by Mozart, and here by von Dohnányi, will be brought to life by Mao Fujita.
PROGRAMMEDaniel Harding, Joshua Bell, Bryn Terfel & VFO
Thu, July 23 | 6:30 PM | Combins
On 23 July, Daniel Harding reunites with longtime collaborators Bryn Terfel and Joshua Bell for a vibrant programme. The charismatic bass-baritone brings his infectious energy to excerpts from the irresistible Fiddler on the Roof, while Joshua Bell, one of today’s most iconic violinists, will illuminate Thomas de Hartmann’s Violin Concerto, a captivating piece blending virtuosity with lyrical depth. In the second half, Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 will bring the evening to a glorious close, a masterpiece of sweeping lyricism and compelling contrasts.

Carmina Burana: James Gaffigan, Bruce Liu & VFJO
Sat, July 25 | 6:30 PM | Combins
A kind of modern cantata drawing on the spirit of Early Music, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana — with its thunderous “O Fortuna” — has become one of the great landmarks of the classical repertoire. To unleash the full dramatic power of its orchestration, the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra is joined by the Oberwalliser Vokalensemble under James Gaffigan, Music Director of the VFJO. Opening the evening, Bruce Liu takes on the blazing energy of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, another masterpiece from the interwar years.
PROGRAMME
Gianandrea Noseda, Mikhail Pletnev & VFO
Thu, July 30 | 6:30 PM | Combins
On 30 July, Gianandrea Noseda reunites with Mikhaïl Pletnev, one of the great Chopin interpreters of our time, for the composer’s famous Second Concerto. The Italian maestro then turns to Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, “Tragic”, a monumental work in which dramatic intensity and orchestral architecture together open a window onto the full breadth of Mahler’s world. Awe-inspiring in scale and symbolism, this is sure to be one of the most anticipated concerts of the 2026 edition.
PROGRAMMELahav Shani, Yunchan Lim, Minsoo Sohn & VFO
Sun. 26.07 July 26 | 6:30 PM | Combins
On 26 July, piano prodigy Yunchan Lim reunites with his mentor Minsoo Sohn for Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos, K. 365. Written for the composer’s sister, the piece radiates warmth and exquisite poetry, qualities that the two pianists’ deep musical bond will bring out with the utmost sensitivity. The second half belongs to Bruckner’s magnificent Symphony No. 7, conducted by Lahav Shani. This is perhaps his most natural repertoire, as attested by his recording of the work for Warner, already hailed by critics as a benchmark interpretation.
