Michael Fuller has long been associated with the Verbier Festival and was one of the founders of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra when it was established in 2005. Since then, he has pursued a dual career as a double bassist and a manager in classical music. A native of the United States, Michael Fuller has been a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra in London since 2010, during which time he also served as interim Managing Director and Chairman of the Board.
Michael Fuller stated: “The Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra is a fantastic ensemble that has always been very close to my heart. It is a great privilege to have the opportunity to work towards achieving the ambitions of the VFCO, one of the most distinctive chamber orchestras in the world and a global ambassador for the Verbier Festival. This is a truly unique group, composed of Verbier alumni who now hold positions in the greatest orchestras worldwide. With the release of the complete cycle of Beethoven’s symphonies with Music Director Gábor Takacs-Nagy on Deutsche Grammophon, this is the ideal time to launch our aspirations for the future.”
Martin T:son Engstroem, Founder and Festival Director, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Michael Fuller to the Verbier Festival team. His knowledge and experience as both a musician and an administrator are major assets for the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and for our plans to develop its international activities and reputation.”
