NEW VF GOLD ALBUM
HECTOR BERLIOZ: SYMPHONIE FANTASTIQUE (ZUBIN MEHTA)
22 May 2026 – Verbier (Switzerland) – The Verbier Festival releases a new album – under its prestigious joint label VF Gold, in collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon. This album captures the spirit of a landmark 2007 Verbier Festival concert, bringing a truly memorable performance to light.
Zubin Mehta is one of the most distinguished conductors of our time. An energetic conductor and a master of large-scale works, he gave a powerful and acclaimed performance of Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique at the Verbier Festival in 2007.
Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique was born from a deeply emotional moment in his life, inspired by his obsessive love for the Irish actress Harriet Smithson. Composed in 1830, when Berlioz was just 26, the work channels an “endless, insatiable passion,” that initially paralyzed his creativity before ultimately inspiring one of the most revolutionary works in orchestral music.
