Lozakovich plays Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77 with Mäkelä (VFCO) at Verbier Festival

The Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Mikhail Pletnev, offers an original programme combining virtuosity and musical discoveries. The evening opens with Carl Czerny’s Symphony No. 6 in G minor, a composer often associated with piano pedagogy, yet whose orchestral works reveal a keen sense of drama and orchestral colour. Dmitry Shishkin, a pianist of recognised talent, then illuminates Franz Schubert’s Wanderer Fantasy, arranged by Pletnev for piano and orchestra, offering a captivating dialogue between soloist and orchestra, at once lyrical and passionate.

After the interval, violinist Daniel Lozakovich presents Robert Schumann’s Violin Concerto in D minor, also arranged by Pletnev. This expressive, deeply Romantic work allows Lozakovich to deploy all his virtuosity and sensitivity, while the orchestra supports every nuance with refinement and energy. An evening where Classicism, Romanticism and contemporary reinterpretation meet to offer the audience a rich and unforgettable musical experience.
