VF Studio: archives, Jukebox and virtual reality at the Verbier Festival
Designed to extend the Festival’s reach beyond the summer season, VF Studio continues to diversify its offerings and innovate. A look at where things stand with Claire-Aimée Allyndrée, Head of Audiovisual.
“The role of the VF Studio department is to keep the Festival alive throughout the year through audiovisual initiatives.”
Claire-Aimée Allyndrée, Head of Audiovisual
What are the key aspects of this department?
VF Studio encompasses the full breadth of the Festival’s audiovisual riches for more than 30 years, with a mission to share them with as many people as possible. Archives, photographs, streaming, interviews with artists, albums, playlists… Its activities, online and on site, extend far beyond concert recordings. Overall, the role of this department is to keep the Festival alive throughout the year.
The archives play an essential role…
Indeed. EPFL is our partner for archiving our musical heritage, and we are currently digitising the entire Verbier Festival audio catalogue, including the DAT tapes from the first editions. We catalogue and inventory them in order to preserve this unique musical memory.
Refreshed and renewed, the immersive cocoon of the Jukebox, introduced last year, has gained new features. What are they?
Following the success of the previous edition, the Jukebox has quadrupled in size and is equipped with a large curved immersive screen, with a high-end sound system. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, we are offering visitors, for the first time, the opportunity to enjoy a brand-new experience via virtual reality headsets, with footage filmed at Schloss Elmau last November.
In figures, what impact has this Pavilion annex had?
In 2025, the Jukebox welcomed some 1’500 visitors, a strong turnout that we hope to double with this enhanced edition.
