Biography

Composer, cellist and singer, Dom La Nena was born in Brazil, where she began studying music at the age of five. After training in classical cello in Buenos Aires and later in Paris, she toured extensively alongside renowned artists such as Jane Birkin, Jeanne Moreau, Étienne Daho and Piers Faccini.

Her solo albums were subsequently acclaimed by the international press, including The Wall Street Journal (“A young Brian Wilson”), The New Yorker (“Every song is sacred”), the BBC (“Incredible and beautiful”), NPR (“A sound both gentle and haunting”), and The Guardian (“An enchantment”).

Since 2013, Dom La Nena has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Philharmonie de Paris, the Philharmonie du Luxembourg, the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Barbican Centre and the Southbank Centre.

In 2021, she was nominated for the Victoires du Jazz in the World Music category for her album Tempo. That same year, the Musée d’Orsay invited her for a carte blanche as part of the exhibition “Enfin, le Cinema!”. On this occasion, she composed the music for several films by filmmaker Germaine Dulac and has since developed an ongoing practice as a composer for film.

In 2025, she was also invited to perform at the Concert de Paris on July 14 beneath the Eiffel Tower, appearing as a soloist accompanied by the Orchestre National de France conducted by Cristian Măcelaru, along with the Maîtrise de Radio France.
